Soul Mafia Epic Santos Release Show Friday @ 8pm

APRIL 27, 2010
Soul Mafia Epic Santos Release Show Friday @ 8pm

In a career, or in a lifetime even, there are defining moments. Often we dont realize the significance of an event until far in the future with the benefit of hindsight. A chance encounter that leads to a marriage, a migraine that caused you not to go to work on 9/11, taking an interview casually referred by a friend that leads to life-long career. There is a spiritual magnitude that we dont always graspthe past sows karmic seeds of the future and in some quantum way the future may even change the past.

But sometimes, there are landmark moments that we see clearly as we move towards them. A title shot for an aspiring mixed martial artist, a speech at the Democratic National Convention, hell an audition for American Idol (just make sure you read the contract first lol). If we are lucky we can turn off the voices in our head for long enough to be one with our destiny for a minute. All the daily battles that culminate in this summit push. All the hours in the studio, shows at dive bars, grueling open mics all the banging doors, making calls, working shit day jobs, fighting to be heard sure it is a labor of love, but hard labor none the less.

This is one show of many in NYC this Friday. And one more potential event in your already crowded calendar. But to me and Prism, and Iam, and Lil Dee. Its the show weve been moving towards for the last four years and in a sense for our whole lives.

LIVE @ SANTOS & SM/Budden remix reaches 10k downloads in 1.5 days

Peace, Shalom, Salaam, ShAnti…

Many thanks and congratulations to everyone that made Fund Art Now a (continuing) success. I also want to thank everyone who helped with the release of the “All I Need Remix” featuring Joe Budden. It made its way from nahright and 2dopeboyz to at least 30 other blogs and cumulatively reached 10,000 downloads in a day and a half. “All I Need Remix” mp3/wav and ringtone will be available for download on iTunes in mid-April as a precursor to the full MK Ultra album.

Official release date for MK Ultra has been pushed back to April 30th to accommodate some last minute adjustments… we want our fighter to be in the best condition of his life before he gets in the ring. We are celebrating the release with a blowout show at Santos Party House with Notar,Dephonic , and some very special surprise guests and an after party with Just Blaze. This show is the focal point of two years of creation and I would love to celebrate with everyone who has been a part of the journey in any way.

MK Ultra "What's Controling You?"

Mk Ultra is our new album slated for an early 2010 release. During the course of recording, mixing, and mastering we lost touch with you a bit. We apologize for the silence. Mk Ultra became a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy and I personally lost myself in the final stages of delivering it.
I hope that we can make up for our absence in the next few months. The album features artwork courtesy of Chiara Todero (thank you to David and John from Chair and The Maiden), graphic design by Summer Cipriano, mixing and mastering from Doc Harrill, Ariel Borujow, and Kevin Blackler and music that we poured our souls into for the last 500 days. We love you and we look forward to seeing many of you soon.

Soul Mafia on Hot 97 w/ Lisa Evers and Break Thru Radio w/ Ms. Drama...

How do you follow up a week where we performed in front of a sold out SOB’s crowd including Kanye West, Lyor Cohen, Bun B, Drake, Peter Rosenberg, etc. (and hung backstage with the same crowd) AND dropped a grimy LES rock set at Mercury Lounge with Krussia and C-Rayz Walz?  How about with back to back interviews and a KILLER NEW TRACK (which, thanks to our postpone, will make the MK ULTRA cut).  The first of our interviews comes courtesy of the lovely Ms. Drama (who lives up to her name lol…) and Break Thru Radio and can be heard  at http://www.breakthruradio.com/index.php?show=7063 .  The second is on Hot 97 (97.1 FM in the Tristate orwww.hot97.com) this Sunday at 9am on Lisa Evers’  ‘Street Soldiers’ along with Ron Browz, Dj Webstar, Dj Envy, Dj Enuff, and Chris Nadler.

The other way to follow up a great week of live music is by setting up another one.  So for everyone who was out of town two weeks ago, Soul Mafia will be back at Mercury Lounge along with fellow NY live hip hop soldiers Dujeous,  Saturday July 11th (Dujeous 11pm, Soul Mafia 12am).  This is a bill that has been four years in the making and will be redline from the time doors open til close.

Huge thank you to Peter Rosenberg, Ebro, all of the Hot 97 and SOB’s staff and of course Chris Nadler for making the show with Drake a classic.  Huge thank you to Jason Negron, Krussia, and of course Kyle Allen and soulfyne for making Mercury Lounge one to remember.

Stay inspired,

gc
